Ivy Mowers comes from Mead, Colorado, where she grew up on a hunting farm with an ambition that never quite left her: she wanted to become an author.

At eighteen, Ivy decided she was going to stop treating that dream like something meant for later. A year afterward, she began working on her first manuscript. Finding her voice took time. Life was not always simple either. Schooling struggles and personal challenges shaped different stages of her journey, but writing became the place where she could create, explore, and enjoy the people living inside her imagination.

Fantasy romance quickly became the genre she loved most.

Something still felt missing.

Ivy noticed that many stories she encountered did not include the kind of LGBTQ representation she wanted to read. So she decided to create it herself.

She did not want sexuality to become the only thing defining her characters. Natoria and Mirabel are leaders, daughters, fighters, soulmates, friends, and women carrying complicated histories. They simply happen to fall in love with someone of the same gender.

That approach shaped SHIFTING at The HEARTH.

For Ivy, characters also became a way to place different versions of herself onto the page. Their fears, personalities, struggles, humor, loyalties, and choices helped create a fantasy world that felt personal enough to keep returning to.
